Advent calender

Experience the beautiful facade of the Rathaus transformed into a huge, illuminated Advent calendar at dusk.

1st December - 24th December, daily 4.30 pm to midnight

The ice nativity scene in the Landhaus courtyard

Now a traditional feature of Advent in Graz, awaited with great excitement each year: the nativity scene in the Landhaus courtyard. Art, light and the beautiful surroundings come together with breathtaking effect, creating a magical atmosphere.

Start of work: Sat, 21st November - Official opening: Sat, 28th November, 6 pm

Advent markets

You will find a series of different Advent markets throughout the Old Town (Franciscan quarter, Färberplatz, Mariahilferplatz, Mehlplatz, Glockenspielplatz, Tummelplatz, Eisernes Tor and on the main square). All of them are located within walking distance and invite you to take a stroll around the picturesque streets of Graz.

The Graz nativity trail

Once again this year, the shops in Stempfergasse display a wide range of Christmas cribs in their windows. The nativity trail leads from the ice crib in the Landhaus courtyard along beautifully illuminated Stempfergasse to the crib show at Regner's on Bischofsplatz.

Office for christmas carols

Graz offers a singular service point for all questions concerning Christmas carols, their lyrics and melodies. The intention behind it is to bring people back to singing those songs themselves again. Equipped with 10.000 carols, lyrics and poems it should be possible to handle nearly all your requests.

Graz winterworld on Karmeliterplatz

daily 9 am - 9 pm, 24.12. 9 am - 3 pm
The centrepieco of Winterworld on Karmeliterplatz is the 600-square-metre ice rink. Ice skating at the ice rink on Karmeliterplatz is free of charge.

Advent train - experience the Old Town of Graz

The small and friendly fun train takes its warm, comfortable passengers on a ride through the Graz Old Town. It runs between the Advent markets and is a real blessing when you are worn out form shopping.
